Transpiration is basically what we do when we sweat but a plants doing it. Did you know about 10% of the water in the air is transpiration. Plants extend their roots into the soil to pump nutrients and water into the stem and leaves. Some of the water returns to the air by transpiration. Water also evaporates from the soil and that is considered transpiration. Transpiration depends on air, water and soil conditions and temperatures. During droughts or hot seasons transpiration can contribute to the lack of moisture in the soil.
